Front suspension/body on/motor mockup
I'm excited about getting the front end together, it's been so long since it was all together.
I Bought EBay front tubular control arms.
They are cheap and really solid with the exception of the installed ball joints.
They are cheap Chinese crap and need to be replaced with good quality parts like Moog.
I'm excited about these. They are QA1 coil over adjustable shocks for the front.
You definitely want to order the thrust washers when purchasing the coilovers. It makes adjusting them so simple and easy.
Two really important things to know about installing these beauties: use ample anti seize on the threads for the adjuster and lock ring and liberally lubricate the thrust bearing.
It is such an easy install, the lower arms fit well and the shocks bolted right up.
The upper required a little massaging to fit but work great.
My plan is 2" lowering spindles, a 500 power steering box, new ball joints and steering linkage.
For the time being I'm loosely installing the old spindles and steering box. it will make it a roller and easy to move around.
It's been over 15 years since this frame was on 4 wheels!
I cannot express how excited I am to see this.
WOW!
It just keeps getting better!
The body is back on the frame to mock up the drivetrain.
Man it looks so good! I can't believe it's at this stage.
This is the 6.0 I plan on using in the old girl.
I have what I think is an old 700-R4 transmission case to help mock things up.
I knew the factory truck oil pan wouldn't fit but I really wanted to just see how it looked!
Proper oil pan and motor mounts on the way!!!
