The dash and steering column back in place. Everything hooked up and verified operation of all the electrical and vacuum operated devices. Lotsa work and knuckle busting! |

Just a lot of grunt work here. Sanding and stripping all the paint from the doors and rear quarters. I also removed the deck lid and tail light housings. | |
And then I cleaned up the deck lid. It's Very straight and clean, nearly like new. |
The above and left pictures show a
small area above the rear wheel on the rear quarter that was rusted on
both sides. The area was cut out and a new piece formed and welded
in place. |
The picture to the right is the lower rear bumper mounting area on the body. There are two nuts welded on the inside and not accessible from the outside. This area was also rusted on both sides and had mounting bolts rusted in and broken off. I cut both areas out and formed new parts and welded them in. This really took some time and precise measurements to ensure the bumper bolts up properly. Turned out really well. |
|
I laid out the first application of
body putty on the front fenders and roughed them out before
installation. |
Oh yeah! It's starting to look like a car again! |
Both front fenders reinstalled and adjusted. It took several hours to get them adjusted properly. They need to match up with the front of the door perfectly. And they do! |
I also installed the heater hoses and heater valve, new battery, new wiper motor, finalized some under hood wiring and detailed the glove box door as well as installing a new latch for it.
Gotta get back to work! See ya later.
